City Church Del Rio, 1 Year later

citylogosquare

In Nov 2015, City Church Del Rio was birthed with a core group of 30 people. We prayed for God’s Holy Spirit to guide us and begin a new work that would last for years to come. I can honestly say that after 1 year of ministry in City Church Del Rio, things are looking very good. God has paved a path for us to minister to our community of Del Rio. So, what has that looked like?

  1. A complete staff of loving ministers that enjoy being with each other and invest in each other’s ministries, lives, and families.
  2. A missional mindset of being the church.
  3. A giving church that gives 11% of all undesignated receipts to missional causes including the Del Rio Baptist Association, Texas Baptists, the Southern Baptist Convention, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Unique Student Ministries, and other local mission efforts.
  4. Covenant membership classes.
  5. A multicultural fellowship with a focus on millennials and young families.
  6. A body of believers sold out to servant lifestyles.
  7. Elder led congregation
  8. Contemporary style worship including music, preaching, and life groups.
  9. A church with connections to Mexico, River Ministry, local church bodies including other denominations, churches from Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Baptist Student Ministry groups, Literacy Connexus, and many local state agencies.
  10. 70 plus worshipers.

Thank you to all who have prayed, given, and come to minister in Jesus name to the border. We are blessed beyond measure. God has provided ever step of the way!

New Galatians Sermon Series

Unknown-2

Sunday, July 24 begins a new journey through the book of Galatians for City Church Del Rio. As we begin to close out the summer, I want us to be prepared for the upcoming fall. You might ask, “why?” Thus fall has been on my heart for City Church Del Rio to begin its growth journey. Every church that was started in the New Testament was a growing church. If we are modeling City Church after the New Testament churches, then we will grow.

Of course, we will be doing our part, which is identify, intercede, invest, and invite those who God lays on your heart to come and be part of this new movement, called City Church Del Rio.

This is called the 4 x 4 challenge

Together, we can be the church God has called us to be.

Vacation Bible School @ City Church 2016

SONY DSC

What a great week we had at our MEGA Sports Camp 2016. God allowed us to minister to more than 90 children, with an average attendance of 70 per night! I am always amazed at what God can do when we choose to serve the community. We had participation from many adults and youth as the kids learned about soccer, football, basketball, cheerleading, and cooking. The main thing was that we were able to share the Gospel of Jesus with all of them as well. That was the most significant part of the week for me. What an opportunity we have to follow up and minister to families that aren’t connect to a church or God.

Check our our Facebook Page HERE and see all the pictures and videos from the week. We are also having another VBS in July and you can REGISTER HERE for that great opportunity as well. You can check out everything City Church has to offer by visiting our webpage HERE

Bliss Life Group

When you said “I do” what did you think was going to happen?

Art-of-Marriage-Banner1

You found out this “married thing” was actually pretty tough at times. Your marriage obviously does not look like everyone else’s marriage. That is why you have a very unique marriage. No two marriages are alike. Your marriage is like an art canvas that will be painted on for a lifetime.

We will host a life group beginning this Wednesday, Feb 24. Each lesson will be for 60 minutes from 6:30-7:30 pm. We will be interacting with each other and viewing a study video consisting of 25-30 minutes.

Did you know that 1 in 7 marriages begins on-line today?

Top reasons people marry: Love 91%, Companionship 88%, Lifelong Commitment 82%, Security for children79%, Public Commitment %77, Legacy of Financial Status 66%, Religious Beliefs 62%, Family Pressure 50%, Desire for a Special Occasion 48%.

Children quotes about marriage:

“When I get married I want to marry someone who is tall and handsome and rich and hates spinach as much as me”, Gwen, age 9

“I want to get married but not right away yet, because I can’t cross the street by myself yet”, Arnold, age 6

“First she has to like pizza, then she has to like cheesecake, after that she has to like fudge candy, then I know our marriage will last a lifetime”, Bobby, age 9.

If it were just that simple. I am praying for all your marriages that God may bring you into a closer relationship to Himself and to each other.
