Yesterday, our church finished a 10-week series through the epistle of Philippians. I enjoyed the book for a few reasons. One of those reason was the knowledge that Paul’s imprisonment didn’t stop his joy from coming through the letter. I felt as if Paul was not in prison because he wrote as if he was the most free human being to have ever walked the planet. It was only in those verses that he reminds us that he is a prisoner.
I said in my sermon yesterday, that I have never been behind prison bars, and for that I am forever grateful. I know that my joy would not so evident. I would look at the glass half-empty, I’m afraid.
In order for us to be full of joy and contentment all we have to do is look to Jesus. Jesus will remind us of our dependence on Him.
